I am a mother of 2 beautiful children and have always worked a full time job and never really thought I had issues with my weight. I had poor eating habits and never really exercised besides dancing a little or going for walks.

I first approached Jim after having Bariatric Surgery; my goal was to lose 140 pounds.  I challenged Jim with helping make my body strong and healthy.  I started working with Jim a month after having the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG).   I had never worked with a personal trainer before; the extent of my exercising was walking around my block.  Jim took care to ensure a safe introduction and guided my progress as he increased my effort.  Always with a smile and an addictive good mood, Jim encouraged and when needed pushed me to achieve the next level of progress.   After working with Jim for ten months I have lost 110 pounds and still going.  The most amazing experience is feeling not just the weight loss but the feeling of my body getting strong.  The ability to do things I was not able to do when I was morbidly obese.  Jim has guided me on my fitness and eating while taking care with my previously inactive body.  This has been the most amazing journey of my life, I attribute so much of my success to Jim’s expertise, guidance and mentoring, yes I did the work but Jim helped me stay accountable and present.  There is nothing like feeling my body getting strong and stronger.  People always ask “don’t you feel amazing after losing so much weight”, I feel great but I feel amazing because I work out hard six days a week in addition to the weight loss.   I feel like Jim has set me up for a lifetime of success, because after I reach my weight goal the real work begins of maintaining and continuing my journey of getting stronger.

Where to begin…..I met Jim about 16-17 years ago through work.  He helped me through my first transition where I lost 90lbs.  Jim actually taught me how to lift and he is the reason why I love lifting.  I will never forget the first time I was doing leg extensions, I hit number 10 or 11 and I stopped.  He said, “why are you stopping?”  I said, “because it burns!”  He smiled and said, “it’s supposed to burn, that’s what you want, some day you are going to love that feeling.”  In the back of my head, I was like..ah yeah, I don’t think so!!  Fast forward 17 years, he was right, I love lifting!!

Over the year’s life obstacles, poor diet and discipline caused my weight to slowly creep up.  I’ve done every diet ever invented and I have worked with numerous coaches over the years with some limited results.  Jim was the only one I had the most progress with.  

The photo of me in the black bathing suit was taken on vacation during Christmas this past year (2016).  Upon my return I reached out to Jim and asked for his help.  He asked what my goal(s) where.  I told him I wanted to fit in the little black dress I wore to his wedding 10 years ago.   He said, when I’m done with you, you’re going to need a whole new wardrobe.  Again, in the back of my head, I was like….ah yeah, I just want my jeans to fit!!  Fast forward 16 weeks, he was right, NOTHING fits…okay, maybe my socks. 

I am not going to say it was easy, BUT, it was easier with Jim’s help.  Jim gave me the map to get there, many times he talked me off the edge or lit a fire under my butt.  He made changes to my program as needed, he helped me work around injuries, a busy schedule, eating out and traveling.  He held me accountable, which is exactly what I needed to succeed.  There were no more excuses because he had a work around for every one of them.  How could I argue?  Each week I was making progress, either I was losing weight, getting an extra rep, adding weight to a lift or my stamina in cardio was increasing.    

I am going to be 49 in a couple months, I am the leanest, lightest and strongest I have ever been.  Every time I look in the mirror, I am amazed!!!  I seriously could NOT have done this without Jim!!

I always considered myself to be a highly active and healthy person. I've tried most at home exercise programs and gym classes. I thought eating a salad and some fruit during the day along with a 30 min cardio session was all it took to be healthy and fit.  Over the last few years and especially after I had my two kids, I was finding myself getting exhausted and sick after most workouts and not seeing the physical results I've always wanted. I was a competitive gymnast in my youth which makes me very selective in choosing my activity, instructors/classes and most importantly trainers.

  After 4-5 years of classes and observation, in 2011 I happily scheduled one then two now three standing weekly sessions with Jim. I have found him easy to work with, always challenging, and mindful of my strength and limitations.  The gymnastics, years of high impact aerobics, kickboxing, step and running, resulted in meniscus repair for both knees and recently a partial knee replacement.  To prepare for this surgery, Jim fashioned a program strengthening quads, core, and other supports to make rehab and recovery easier.  The proof: just a few months later I was leg pressing over 300 lbs. 

I credit Jim for his continuous research - staying on top of nutrition and innovations benefiting his clients.  With his guidance and collaboration, I have finally broke through my stubborn weight plateau and am happily below my "goal weight".  I can't overstate the feeling of satisfaction and increased motivation when your clothes start to look better on and get very loose....YEA !!

I've been exercising since my late-20's mostly as a means to stay healthy and keep the weight down. Despite the consistent regularity of my workouts, I still struggled with my weight and never really pushed myself to achieve any fitness goals.  Once I hit my 40's I began to desire something more from exercising and sought out new fitness challenges that would require additional support.
